Water jug refills
You can have your water jugs refilled right at the store, 77 rue Principale in Chénéville. It is a practical option at the cottage, while you wait for test results, or when your well water is not used for drinking.
Drop by during opening hours: Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Having your well water tested
With a private well, water quality is the owner’s responsibility. The only way to know whether it is safe to drink is to have it tested regularly by an accredited laboratory. We arrange these tests with an accredited laboratory.
The Government of Québec recommends:
- a bacteriological test (for example E. coli and coliforms) at least twice a year;
- a test for chemical contaminants (for example arsenic, nitrates, fluoride, manganese) at least once while the well is in use.
Depending on the results, further tests may be recommended. Contact us to find out how to proceed.
When to have your water tested
Besides regular testing, a test is useful after work on the well or plumbing, when buying a house or cottage, or if the water changes taste, smell or colour. If in doubt, drink jug water while you wait for the results.
If a test points to a problem with the well or its installation, our wells and pumps services can take over.
